Future C U R I O U S
2015 / Curating
This project was driven by a dialogue between people, artists and futurists, and investigates the possible futures we want to see and create. As well as asking the question of what the future of arts practice may look like. We kickstarted the programme of events and projects which explored these themes in 2015, with The Future C U R I O U S Summer Festival supported by mac Birmingham.
Working alongside Amy Martin, we developed a programme that enabled emerging artist to explore future innovation and technology through creativity. We programmed a wide range of free and open access talks, lectures, workshops, interventions, labs and commissions to explore future arts practice in relation to technological change.
We worked with random Acts to commission two short films made by 10 cross-disciplinary artist over 5days. Taking over an abandoned Birmingham bank and vault as our site for filming. We asked the commissioned artist to explore the themes of technology and our relationship to it.
